(Note: please be sure to read through the rest of the rules in this section for more specifics.)
Dagorhir is a sport that survives on both realism and safety. As such, all participants are expected to contribute to this environment:
-
Get in the mood: come with fun on your mind and the trappings of everyday life left behind. The atmosphere is much imporved if participants avoid modern slang (dude, cool, etc.). This is not to suggest all should spout ''thee''s and ''thou''s, but be something to be aware of.
-
Attitude: come to play, have fun, and be safe. The object is not to injure anyone, merely to best them in combat, so that all return to fight another day.
-
Battle name: all participants should have a non-mundane name of some sort, this is your chance to be creative. Avoid using known fantasy characters ie: Drizzt, Tanis etc. Something like Thane, Dominus, Serpentstier, etc. will serve you better.
-
Costume: all participants should have a minimum costume of some kind. This usually consists of a basic tunic, earth-toned sweatpants and boots. See the costume guidelines for more details.
-
Weapons/Armor: all participants should have their own personal weapons and/or armor for their use. These can either be constructed or purchased from other fighters.
Until a combatant can meet ALL of the above requirements, they are restricted to using a simple one-handed weapon. Additionally, before anyone can fight, they must have a signed waiver (signed by a parent/legal guardian AND notorizedĀ if a minor).
The information above differs from what is posted at the National site. Not all realms find the same guidelines work for them. Should you participate in a national event, expect to follow the national rules. If you have questions about the national rules, ask on the national forums. If you have questions about why we do things the way we do, feel free to ask us. Remember: the goal is safety and fun for all...
