Field Battle
The field battle is amongst the most basic of all Dagorhir games. All combatants are divided into two roughly equal teams (method of division can be by captains choice, by unit, etc.). Each team occupies the opposite end of a field. At the call of "LAY ON!", the teams charge each other and try to annihilate the other team. Last team standing wins. At the end of the fight, heralds may redistribute some fighters to help balance the fighting by a number of different methods. The game described above may differ from a game you may have played. If you have questions, ask the herald before the fight has begun. Meat Grinder
This battle is amongst the most basic of Dagorhir combat games. Also known as "cutthroat". All combatants are spread roughly even throughout the field of play. At the call of "LAY ON", the battle begins: every combatant for themselves! Last fighter standing wins. The game described above may differ from a game you may have played. If you have questions, ask the herald before the fight has begun. Valhalla
Valhalla battles are slightly more complex than your average meat grinder. The purpose of the Valhalla battles is to keep fighting going non-stop without the need for intervention from the heralds. Another fine point of Valhalla is that the teams are constantly changing. A Valhalla battle starts off with any basic battle, but a meat grinder works great for this purpose. At the call of "LAY ON!", the combatants wage war on each other. As combatants die, they proceed to a central designated gathering point, labeled ''Valhalla''. After a prescribed number of people arrive in Valhalla (3-4 if your total combatants is around 20), they form a new team and rejoin the fray. As people die, they return to Valhalla and take breaks as needed, then form into a new team and rejoin the battle. As mentioned above, this keeps the action going, without the need for constantly setting up huge teams and explaining new rulesets for quite a while. The game described above may differ from a game you may have played. If you have questions, ask the herald before the fight has begun. Bridge / Chasm
First things first, a "bridge" must be designated. For safety's sake, this is never a real bridge! Usually a bridge is indicated by as something as nice as hay bales or as simple as ropes. If a combatant steps off the hay bales to the outside, or over the outside of the ropes... they have fallen to their death and are removed from play. Two teams are formed at opposite sides of the bridge. At the call of "LAY ON!", the combatants proceed to attempt to gain the side of the bridge their opponent is on. This scenario can either be done with each combatant given a single life, or some sort of respawn point, the scenario lasting until one team gains the opposite side. The game described above may differ from a game you may have played. If you have questions, ask the herald before the fight has begun. Line Battle
A bridge is formed like the bridge battle (hay bales or rope), except that the bridge is only wide enough to field a single fighter at a time. Combatatants are formed into two teams at opposite ends of the narrow bridge. At the call of "LAY ON!", the first two combatants charge each other and fight to the death. The loser goes to the back of the line behind the winner. The victor remains with their wounds to face the next opponent. Fights continue until one side of the bridge holds all the combatants... but since this can be indefinetly, the fights are usually called off whenever people are ready to do another fight. The game described above may differ from a game you may have played. If you have questions, ask the herald before the fight has begun. More Articles... |
